[Objective] To obtain the situation of Kaschin-Beck disease prevalence and control in Xi'an city,and evaluate the effectiveness of control,direct the control work.[Methods] Chose children aged 7 to 12 as samples according to monitoring project,gave them clinical and X-ray examination.The local adults were diagnosed by clinical examination.Selenium salt sampled from salt cooperation and households was monitored.[Results] Kaschin-Beck disease prevalence in children decreased;detection rate with X-ray accorded with nation standard;the qualified rate of selenium salt quality was increased year by year.[Conclusion] Kaschin-Beck disease prevalence rate decreases clearly through general control for many years.There are some problems in implementing control measures,health education for community member in disease prevalence area should be enhanced,the research and treatment for adults Kaschin-Beck disease should be stressed.
