METHODS The task, its performance by each of four rhesus monkeys (A, B, C, and D), the methods of monitoring their performance and of recording cerebellar unit discharge during performance, and the methods of studying the relation between cerebellar unit discharge and the performance of the task are described in the previous paper (34).In this paper “Purkinje cells” are those units located in or near the Purkinje layer that generated two different kinds of spike (16, 31, 32).
