This study analyses and processes the photoplethysmographic (PPG) signal waveform in order to evaluate the arterial stiffness. In fact the PPG signal carries out some determinant physiological parameters which are used in evaluating arterial stiffness. These parameters are determined through the processing and analysis of the PPG signal. The determined physiological parameters are the augmentation index AI and the b/a ratio. The work is in fact related to the determination and the analysis of the AI and the b/a ratio. The acquired PPG signal is first filtered using the Undecimated Wavelet Transform (UWT), then its second derivative is calculated followed by a detection of peak and valleys in order to determine AI and b/a ratio. These parameters are then evaluated and analysed for different subjects healthy and pathologic. The obtained result shows that the AI and the b/a ratio are not in the same argument for the healthy and pathologic subject.
