The number of recorded ground motion in the 1995 Hyogoken-Nanbu Earthquake was not large enough to estimate the detailed spatial distribution of ground motion. Yamaguchi and Yamazaki (1998) estimated the PGV distribution using the BRI’s building damage data and the recorded strong indices. However the estimated PGV might be affected by the inventory characteristics of buildings in each district. Hence in this study, the PGV distribution was re-evaluated using the building damage data surveyed by Kobe City, in which structural type and construction period are provided. Using the reevaluated PGV distribution, fragility curves considering detailed building information can be developed.
