A new recessive mutation, called tottering, tq, is very closely linked to Oligosyndactylism, Os. Homozygous tottering mice are characterized by intermittent seizures which may begin as early as 2 weeks of age and continue throughout life, and by a wobbly gait, affecting particularly the hindquarters, which may appear before 4 weeks of age but in some stocks is not detectable until 8 weeks or more, and which continues throughout life. Tottering mice of both sexes are often fertile.
