The influence of increasing the pressure into the supercritical region on heterogeneous catalystshas been investigated, for example, on the isomerization of 1‐hexene in the presence of 2‐chlorohexane (500:1) on γ‐Al2O3. On increasing the pressure the catalyst could even be reactivated when covered with volatile substances or when specific catalyst poisons had been added.
