This book outlines mathematical techniques which the author claims can assist in the solution of problems relating to business management and general economics. He submits that his topological approach offers advantages over the analytical methods that are sometimes applied to the solution of specific problems, such as finding the lowest cost of transport when moving specific amounts of goods from one place to another, determining the amounts of merchandise that must be purchased, stored and sold at various times to give a maximum profit (given the capacity of the warehouse, the quantity of merchandise already in storage, the unit price, the sales price and the unit cost of storing), and solving problems connected with the economic model of industrial independence. The author defines the mathematical terms he proposes to use, outlines the general principles of graphical theory and applies the general theories he has enunciated. Finally he gives formulas for general application to the range of economic problems he set out to resolve. Two main groups of people would be interested in a book of this kind—mathematicians wishing to acquaint themselves with the author's new concepts and economists seeking aids to the solution of their problems. It is not a text-book; it deals with a limited sector of operationsresearch studies.
