Background: Plasma B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) levels are confounded by renal dysfunction, so this study examined whether plasma BNP might be a reliable biomarker of the onset of cardiovascular (CV) events in a population-based cohort with impaired renal function.Methods and Results: Baseline data, including plasma BNP, serum creatinine, and urinary protein levels, were determined in participants from a community-based population.
