MATERIALS AND METHODSThirty consecutive surgically excised basal-cell carcinomas of skin were examined by conventional histological techniques. Tissue from four of the tumours was also processed for electron microscopy: 1 mm3 blocks were iixed for 2 hr in ice-cold 5 per cent. cacodylatebuffered glutaraldehyde solution, washed with buffer and post-fixed for 90 min. in ice-cold 1 per cent. cacodylate-buffered osmium tetroxide solution.
