PA and lateral chest radiographs showed nearly complete, homogenous opacification of the left hemithorax (Fig. 1). The presence of a mass was suggested by the lobulated border outlined by air within the lung in the superior aspect of the hemithorax. A few linear densities; interpreted as being caused by crowding of pulmonary vessels, were also noted in this area. There was slight pleural thickening. There was also expansion of the left intercostal spaces, dextro-displacement of the heart and right paraspinal line and inferior-medial displacement of the gastric air bubble. A CT scan was performed with an intravenous drip of 150-cc Renografin 60 (Fig. 2). A multi-loculated, possibly cystic mass was identified in the left hemithorax, which displaced the heart and descending aorta to the right and depressed the diaphragm and spleen. A bolus of Renografin produced slight enhancement of portions of the mass. Compressed lung tissue was noted over its superior aspect. No rib involvement was observed and there was no pleural
