We measured and analyzed damping oscillation of a permanent magnet above a YBa2Cu3Ox superconductor. A mechanical model composed of a mass, a spring, and a dashpot was used to analyze the damping oscillation of the magnet. By introducing the dragged spring model for the pinning effect, we obtained good agreement between the analytical and experimental results.
