Gasseret al. (Lancet, May 1992, p1174) reported an improvement with ceftriaxone in 8/9 patients with dilated cardiomyopathy seropositive forB. burgdorferi. They did not, however, mention the duration of heart disease. In the present series of 72 Austrian patients with chronic dilated cardiomyopathy, 10 were seropositive forB. burgdorferibut not one improved with ceftriaxone or other antibiotic therapy.
