~n AN eadicr study it was found that chlorpromszine inhibited amino acid oxidase. The experimental mdu OMnimd by kinaic study using a purified oxidase system showed that the chlorpromazine compcccd with thc flavio adenim dinuchtide (FAD) for the enzyrne protein, and the dissociation conrtlnt of ~ ~ ~ ~ r o t c i n annpkx was found to be 2.3 x M (YAGI, NAGATSU .nd OUWA, 1956). Recently. it has been found that chlorpromazine at higher concentration than 10-8 M, which was uscd in the abowmentioned experiment, inhibited the fluorescena of FAD as a ICU& of direct compkx formation of both substaoces (YAOI, OZAWA and NACAISU, 1959). Accordiagtr, it waa thought that FAD might dccrcasc the action of chlorpromazine in aim by these two -. is. competition and complex formation. The antagonistic action of FAD and n i 5 ’ (FM) found in the Damino acid oxidase system (EGAMI and YAGI, 1!HQ wu .ho rdbdcd in f u n a i d pbeMnnena of tbe brain, such as the electroencephalogram @rjc) (MUMMAW, ANDO, NAOATSIJ and YMI, 1958), and some interesting relationships between the Qemialof tbe various flavin duivatives and their influence on the EEG were noted (Muurursv. ANW. NAOAW d YAOI. 1959). Thae d t a suggestsd that tbe actions of FAD and chlorpromazine are opposed to each ochr In obo. Tbe effect of FAD on the EEG modified by chlorpromazine was therefore studied from
