Cicatricial neuromas can follow the severance of any nerve. Dental extraction is sometimes followed by the formation of a neuroma. When such nodules follow extensive surgery for malignant disease, their occurrence may cause anxiety to the patient who fears recurrence of his cancer, and may be of concern to the surgeon. Tenderness may be present in a cicatricial neuroma causing appreciable discomfort to the patient. There may or may not be tenderness over the area. Hypersensitivity to pin prick is commonly elicited. The following cases of cicatricial neuromata following extensive surgery of the neck are presented and discussed.
