IN this paper I show how Graeme Segal's notion of a F-space [9], which is a group-like object in homotopy theory, can be adapted to define a ring-like object. The extra structure gives rise to a pairing on the spectrum defined by the F-space which is strongly homotopy associative and homotopy commutative and so to a multiplicative structure for the associated cohomology theory. In fact, the multiplicative structure gives rise to an infinite-loop-space and the last part of the paper deals with the construction and its consequences.
