To the Editor .—It is always interesting to read articles where the author's experience differs radically from one's own. "Preservation of the Eye in Paranasal Sinus Cancer Surgery," 1 at first reading, appears to be such an article, for, in my personal series of 234 maxillary and ethmoidal sinus malignancies, orbital clearance was needed in 26% of patients. However, the article by Perry et al should surely be entitled, "Preservation of the Eye in Surgery for Esthesioneuroblastoma," for this tumor, not common in the maxillary sinus, made up 21% of their total experience. In my series, 15 olfactory tumors represented only 6% of the total experience. Indeed, squamous carcinoma of the maxillary sinus is by far the most common site and malignancy affecting the paranasal sinuses.
