α-METHYL-m-tyrosine and α-methyl-DOPA deplete endogenous catecholamine stores of heart and brain. The drop in endogenous catecholamine-levels appears to be due to a displacement by metabolites of these amino-acids and particularly by their decarboxylation and β-hydroxylation products: metaraminol (‘Aramine’) and α-methyl-noradrenaline (‘Corbasil’), respectively1–6.
