The mannose receptor (CD206) functions in endocytosis and phagocytosis, and plays an important role in immune homeostasis. Tumor-associated macrophages express high level of CD206 and are thought to contribute to cancer progression through tumor immunosuppression, metastasis and angiogenesis.
