Anti-Sda is a relatively common antibody reacting primarily with red cells in saline suspension and found either as a naturally occurring antibody or as an immune antibody stimulated by transfusion or pregnancy. It shows marked variation in agglutination, and positive cells vary from massive agglutination to a barely detectable reaction. Approximately 91% of Caucasian bloods react with the antibody. It is genetically independent of the ABO, MNSs, P, Rh, Kell and Fya groups.
