In this paper, we characterize the commutant of the truncated Toeplitz operator on K θ 2 with symbol z n by the commutant lifting theorem. Using this result we determine when A z n θ is multiplicity free, which generalizes a result of Douglas and Foias [5] and solves a conjecture of Gu [9].
