Photopolymerization of diacrylates near ambient temperature may result in the formation of densely crosslinked glassy polymers. Isothermal vitrification restricts the ultimate conversion of reactive groups. This will affect the mechanical properties of the product. The rate of monomer conversion during vitrification cannot be described with ordinary chemical kinetics but it can be fitted with a Williams-Watts equation, similar to volume relaxation. With diacrylates even the chemistry will change during vitrification, since direct termination is gradually replaced by termination through hydrogen transfer.
