The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has transformed inpatient stroke care. Since early 2020, when the first severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) cases were reported, we have learned a tremendous amount about SARS-CoV-2 infection and its association with stroke. That said, many observations and studies are preliminary, and as vaccination rates increase, the impact of SARS-CoV-2 infection on inpatient stroke care will likely change. We want to highlight some of the major impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on inpatient stroke care.
