We consider sums of sequences of extended real-valued functions focusing on the epigraphical liminf and limsup inequalities. Specically, we note a deciency in the statement of Theorem 7.46 in Variational Analysis, Springer, Berlin, Heidelberg, 1998. An elementary counterexample is provided, and a remedy that is well suited to the class of DC functions is established.
