Samples of spontaneous EEG activity from the dorsal hippocampus of rabbits [Oryctolagus cuniculus] were recorded immediately before classical conditioning of the nictitating membrane response. Computer analysis revealed a significant predictive relationship between EEG frequency characteristics and the subsequent rate of learning.
