It has been reported that cultured osteoblast-like cells show increased alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity, collagen secretion1•`3), and calcified nodule formation4) due to stimulation of cell function by low -power laser irradiation . Although no morphological changes in osteoblast-like cells due to laser irradiation were evident by light microscopy5,6), electron microscopy has demonstrated expansion of the Golgi area, in the absence of changes in any other cytoplasmic organelles7). In the present study, the morphological features of cultured osteoblast-like cells were examinated after stimulation with laser irradiation.
