Higher temperature and more severe plastic deformations took place in the weld interface of Al/Cu joint with interlayer compared with that of Cu/AI joint with interlayer. For the both joints, the hardness perpendicular to the thickness direction of the aluminum sheet has a significant change compared with the original hardness. Peak lap shear tensile strength of Al/Cu joint with interlayer (78.3 MPa) is 27.3% higher than that of Cu/AI joint with interlayer (61.5 MPa). (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
