A diffusion cell has been constructed to measure the molecular diffusion coefficient of carbon monoxide in a carbon monoxide-nitrogen mixture through cigarette paper. The cell and its application are briefly described, and the mathematics pertaining to it is presented. The theory enables the required diffusion coefficient to be calculated from measurements of the exit mixing cup concentrations.
