Impulses from pain receptors do not differ considerably, either in the form of the individual impulse, the range of frequency in each nerve fiber, or the grouping of impulses, from the impulse discharges from other receptors. The sensory and reflex effect of the discharge seems to depend on its duration as well as on its maximum frequency.
