This paper describes the visual system VIC. VIC is the visual interface which uses “example figures” to define the grammars. In VIC, the user can define grammars interactively by direct manipulation on “example figures” without the CMG Input Window. Even If the user does not know the grammar of the extended CMG, he can define the visual programming language intuitively. We have carried out a comparative experiment to evaluate VIC. We have compared the time required by the user to define the grammar of visual system “List Tree” to Eviss. The efficiency of VIC is approximately twice as good as Eviss.
