An efficient synthesis of (3S) 1,3-di-tert-butyldimethylsilyloxy-6-iodohexane, a chiral iodo derivative useful for the preparation of functionalised 1,7-dioxaspiro[5.5]undecanes from γ-butyrolactone is described.
