The methods for determining the total vanadium content of hemovanadin solutions are reviewed. A colorimetric method using strychnine reagent is described.The absorption curves of hemovanadin for visible light are presented, and their change with pH described.The oxidation potential of hemovanadin was measured, together with its pH dependence.Tentative interpretations of the observed facts and their bearing on the possible physiological role of hemovanadin are put forward.
