Summarizes recent findings concerning the interaction of gastroenteropancreatic peptides (GEPPs) with the central nervous system (CNS) to influence meal size. Topics of discussion include the following: cholecystokinin; bombesin and gastrin releasing peptide; pancreatic polypeptide, neuropeptide Y, and peptide YY; somatostatin; and glucagon. It is concluded that most GEPPs appear to be feedback suppressors of meal size, but that some may stimulate food intake.(PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
