A program which calculates the mean activity coefficient of electrolytes in aqueous solutions has been written for the Texas Instruments TI-59 calculator. Using previously published [1] compact tables of three parameters, the activity coefficients at 25°C for 227 electrolytes can be calculated at selected concentrations. The equations and parameters employed give results in good agreement with empirical determinations of mean activity coefficients over an extended range of concentrations, often ≥ 5m. The program uses the Debye-Hückle equation to estimate the mean activity coefficient at other temperatures. Good agreement with empirical results is obtained up to moderate concentrations at temperatures ranging from 15 to 80°C.
