Serving as chief resident is a privilege, an experience that allows for professional and personal development, and a whirlwind. Once chief residency ends, a new journey begins. It can be difficult to acknowledge your chief experience while also redefining yourself in your next role. Together we reflected on our experiences as chief residents who remained at their residency institution and offer the following suggestions to grow from your chief year and recenter yourself to move forward.
