Hue discrimination was tested in 4 chimpanzees at 3 spectral points: red (640 m[mu]), yellow (589 m[mu]), and blue-green (500 m[mu]). Discrimination was approximately equal at these points. The discrimination was about equal to that of human subjects in the blue-green region but in the red and yellow regions the difference limens were about double those for humans. There is probably less complete differentiation of the red and green receptor mechanisms in the chimpanzee.
