Abstract Two apparently identical inhibitors have been isolated from Lee and from Hawkeye variety soybean meal and purified according to an improved procedure for alcohol-soluble trypsin and α-chymotrypsin inhibitor. Evidence is presented here to indicate that the inhibitor's molecular weight is 8000, that the association between inhibitor and either trypsin or chymotrypsin is nonstoichiometric, and that the inhibitor possesses only one chymotrypsin-binding site.
