A method is described for the transfection ofCaenorhabditis elegansandLitomosoides sigmodontisby ballistic DNA transfer employing gold particles. The plasmid DNA molecules were shown to be distributed by diffusion throughout the entire body of the worm and to have the potential to transfect all somatic cells.
