We discuss the experimental systematic characteristics of the Λ0 polarization observed in hadron-nucleon, hadron-nucleus, and nucleus-nucleus interactions. The current theoretical framework is reviewed and compared with the experimental data. We also discuss the effects of QCD deconfinement on the transverse and longitudinal polarization in nucleus-nucleus interactions and the possibility of using these effects as signals of quark matter formation.
