X ray survival curves were obtained for arthrosperes of Coccidioldes immitis, using suspensions which were showm by nuclear stains to contain uninucleate and binucleate spores in a ratio of 1: 1. The curves are sigmoid in shape and the LD/sub 50/ is approximntely 14 kiloroentgens. Two auxotrophic avirulent mutants were isolated from among the survivors of 80 to 100 kiloroentgene of irradiation. The characteristics of these mutants are described. (auth)
