This paper describes two new mutants in the house mouse, Trembler (Tr) and Reeler (rl). Trembler arose by spontaneous gonosomic mutation resulting in a mosaic gonad. It produces a spastic paralysis, more severe in the hind legs, and in the adult a generalized tremor that ceases when the animal is at rest. The young exhibit convulsions when stimulated. Viability is probably somewhat reduced, and this may have been the cause of a deficiency of Tremblers in the progeny of Tr/+females. Penetrance is complete. Females breed normally but males are frequently sterile. Linkage tests with sex, a,b,c,p, d, s, wa-1, bt and Ca were all negative. Reeler, a recessive gene, arose by spontaneous mutation. Affected animals are unable to keep their hindquarters upright, and when walking or running they frequently fall over on their sides. Viability is somewhat reduced, but few animals die before classification can be made. One female bred but did not rear her young; all the males that have been tested have been sterile. Penetrance is complete and the segregation is normal. Linkage tests with sex, a, b, c, d and bt were all negative.
