In supersolidus liquid phase sintering prealloyed powders are densified by heating to a temperature where a liquid phase nucleates within each particle. The approach is attractive because a high degree of densification can be attained using coarse particles sizes. Thus, there is less need for the small particles typical to liquid phase sintering. This review explores the densification mechanism and the effects of various parameters such as particle size, particle shape, heating rate, and hold time on densification and microstructural development
