A study was conducted for 32 days on 3 healthy young men who lived for 8 days at 24[degree]C, 16 days at 37.8[degree]C and 8 more days at 24 C. Daily food intake and physical activity was constant for all periods. At high environmental temperatures, sodium excretion in sweat averaged 0.601 gm/hour, K 0.125 gm/hour, Mg 2.3 mg/hour and Fe 0.13 mg/hour. Under conditions of profuse sweating, the inclusion of these losses in mineral balance studies may greatly aid in estimating more realistically the daily minimal allowances.
