Virtually all economic theorizing is carried on under the postulate that there is an inviolate social contract ascribing capital assets to individuals to whom accrue the full earnings of those assets. Property is either owned by the state or by individuals, and in the latter case it is owned securelyl and is not subject to political review. This postulate is a reasonable one, for insecurity of ownership of property is an aspect of economic life that is not relevant to most business calculation and one that may often be ignored in theory purporting to pare down complex situations to essential and manageable elements.
