4. The same movements were evoked and identical muscles were activated from both the rostra1 and caudal zones at comparable stimulus intensities. These results suggest that the two zones may contain equivalent representations of the hand and wrist. 5. The two representations are the origins of parallel pathways from the motor cortex. We propose that these pathways have similar influences over spinal motor output but deal with different components of motor behavior.
