It was found that the heart of Lampetra receives fibers from the vagus nerve, and the auricle contains numerous chromaffin cells - apparently identical with small ganglion cells. No such cells were seen in Myxine heart. In Lampetra vagal stimulation produces intense acceleration followed by bradycardia. No immediate response was noted in Myxine heart upon vagal, medulla oblongata, or large blood vessel stimulation. The remainder of the report concerns the reaction of the 2 hearts to acetyl-choline, butyrylcholine, propionylcholine, nicotine, epinephrine, nor-epinephrine, and pilocarpine.
