In the course of the Tenth Workshop, DQw1 was split into two specificities, DQw5 and DQw6 distinguished by alloantisera (Nomenclature for Factors of the HLA System, elsewhere in this volume). DQw5 is associated with DR1, DRw16;Dw21, DRw14;Dw9, and DRw10. Cells typing as DRw13;Dw18;Dw25 (but not Dw24) may also express DQw5, although this requires further confirmation on a larger number of cells. The single cell line typing as DR5;DB2 typed as DQw6, but appeared more like DQw5 biochemically and cellularly. DQw6 is associated with DRw15;Dw2, DRw13;Dw18;Dw24, DRw13; Dw19; Dw26, and probably with DRw15;Dw12. The single DRw8;Dw8.3;DQw1 cell line typed as DQw6 as well (1,2).
