The article discusses opioids and cardiogram abnormalities as well as comments on the paper" Electrocardiographic Abnormalities in Opiate Addicts" by C. Wallner and colleagues. A sample of patients dependent upon opiates was studied to find the abnormalities resulting with cardiac function. They discovered a lengthening of cardiac QT interval as well as ST irregularities. The author feels that data on the use of alcohol and nicotine should have been collected in addition to methadone and other opiates.
