Electronic warfare (EW) concerns the concepts, doctrine, and technology for maximizing the military value of the electromagnetic spectrum. This value is achieved in several ways: exploiting signals emitted by an opponent's systems, degrading the ability of an opponent to use his systems, and the application of techniques and procedures for preserving the ability of friendly forces to use their own systems effectively. This article gives a general overview of the concepts and technologies associated with EW.
