Background: Fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF-21), a newly discovered adipokine, plays an important role in glucose and lipid metabolism and is associated with the development of metabolic disorders, such as obesity, and cardiovascular diseases. This study aimed to investigate the association of serum FGF-21 levels with the presence of atrial fibrillation (AF).Methods: Total 113 patients with AF and 60 healthy control subjects were enrolled. All AF cases were categorized into paroxysmal, persistent and permanent AF.
