It is known that the discrepancyof the sequencesatisfiesa.e. for all, but not for. For,we havea.e. for someandif, but not for. In this paper we prove, extending results of Aistleitner–Larcher [6], that for any sufficiently smooth intermediate speedbetweenandand for any, there exists a sequenceof positive integers such thateventually holds a.e. for, but not for. We also consider a similar problem on the growth of trigonometric sums.
